Microblading Scabbing: The Healing Process

Both women and men nowadays resort to microblading to preserve a good-looking set of eyebrows. As we all know, our arches also impact how beautiful our faces can be. Microblading is a procedure that will make them fuller, correct their shapes, and define them for a long time. It is a cosmetic treatment that will make you feel better about it. 

But a rarely talked about topic is microblading scabbing. What does the healing process look like? How should you go about your life after this beauty tattoo?

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing. It fills in one’s eyebrows. It is done to make the arches look fuller and thicker. During the session, a technician uses a unique tool to craft tiny cuts on the skin. The tool has multiple needles linked to a handle. The provider inserts pigment into the cuts. It is what creates the appearance of eyebrow hairs. The color of the pigment will cater to what the client wants. 

Microblading is ideal if you want your eyebrows to look feathery and full. It is a semi-permanent alternative to applying makeup. The treatment is also excellent if you have lost eyebrow hairs. 

What Is Microblading Scabbing and Why Does It Happen?

Microblading is performed by making a thin incision on the skin. It is then followed by depositing pigments into them. 

The incisions are not that deep. The blood reaches the papillary dermis, the skin’s second layer. Nevertheless, the surface is broken. It will heal just like any other cut. Scabbing is our skin’s natural response to this trauma. It is part of its recovery. 

Microblading scabbing is a normal part of the healing process. It can be an annoyance. It makes the arches itchy, but you cannot scratch them. After a few days, they begin flaking lightly. Then, they will fall off on their own. 

Some of the pigment will also come off. Yet, only a tiny amount if you let them flake off naturally. 

Microblading Scabbing–The Healing Process

Healing after a microblade procedure is going to be different for everyone. Yet, there’s an average period when your arches should begin to recover. 

In the first 3-4 days, your arches may look overly dark and swollen. Some redness may also occur around the area. Scabs may manifest after day four, and Beijing falls off between days 7 and 12. 

Microblading Healing Day by Day

Day one to three: Arches look fuller, though your face may feel cut and tender. 

On the first day, your eyebrows may appear very bold and full. The color might be extremely dark. Remember, it will all eventually fade. 

You’ll likely experience: 

• Redness
• Tenderness
• Mild swelling 
• Mild bleeding 
• The sensation of bruising or feeling cut 

By days two or three, these side effects will gradually alleviate. 

Day three to five: Eyebrows appear very dark, then begin to flake off 

As the pain and tenderness disappear, your brows will darken and thicker. It gives a very bold character. 

By day 5, they will start to scab. They will be flaky. You might itch, too. Still, all is normal. It means your complexion is healing. 

Day five to eight: Flasking persists, and the color fades 

You can anticipate more scabbing, flaking, and peeling. 

 Resist the urge to pick the scabs. Doing so can reopen the wounds and sabotage the healing process. It might also diminish some pigment, which can be directed to patchy  eyebrows. Let the scabs fall off naturally. 

As your brows continue to flake, the dark hue will soften. Rest assured, the hue will come back. 

Day eight to 12: Flaking ends, and color returns 

After the first week, the flaking will eventually stop. The pigment will also return. 

Day 12 to 21: Color and texture appear more natural 

The color of your eyebrows should look more even. It becomes natural. The individual brow hairs will also appear more defined. Here, you finally unlock the appearance of feathery arches. 

Day 21 to 30: Skin is fully recovered 

After a month, your skin will be completely healed. No pain or discomfort should occur. Your arches will also look soft and full, giving you a youthful glow. 

You’ll likely have a follow-up session with your provider in another month or two. It allows them to check on how your skin has healed. Moreover, let me fix any spots. 

How Do I Treat My Eyebrows During the Microblading Scabbing Process?

There are two ways of treating your arches during the scabbing period. 

The first one is dry healing. It means letting your eyebrows recover naturally. It is not intended to use any aftercare ointments. 

On the other hand, there is ointment healing or wet healing. It means applying an ointment onto your microbladed arches. Doing so can cut and soothe scabbing. 

No matter if you go for dry and wet healing, you need to sustain the cleanliness of your brows. Wash them regularly with a gentle soap and water. Dry them afterward. 

Also, you are strictly forbidden from wearing makeup and any other cosmetic product. Wearing makeup can lead to an infection. 

What Will My Brows Look Like After the Scabbing Process Is Finished?

In many cases, scabbing leaves your eyebrows at least a little patchy. 

They are sometimes so light that it may cause you to worry that your microblading has disappeared. Still, it is all part of the healing process. The pigment will begin to show again. If your eyebrows remain patchy after recovery, they can be corrected at the touch-up. 

Microblading Aftercare

Aftercare for the skin where microblading took place is much like tattoo care. Still, it can be a bit more intensive. 

The pigment immediately after the treatment will appear dark. The skin underneath it will be reddish. After all, needles are used to cut into the skin. It’s only standard to experience some redness and sensitivity. 

About 2 hours after the procedure, you should lay a cotton swab dipped in sterilized water on the treatment area. It will get rid of any excess dye on your brows. It also helps to keep the space sterile. 

It takes 7 to 14 days for the complexion to start appearing better. Also, for the pigment to fade to its intended shade. 

Still, follow these steps to care for your complexion after microblading: 

• Avoid getting the area wet for at least a week. It includes keeping your face dry during a shower. 
• Do not wear makeup for at least a week. Pigments are still absorbing into the shallow cuts on your complexion caused by the blading. 
• Don’t pick at scabs. Don’t tug or itch their eyebrow area. 
• Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating. 
• Eep the hair away from the brow line. 
• Apply any medicated cream or healing balm given by your technician. Follow the directions.
